System header files usually employ platform-specific extensions not only on the preprocessor side, but in preprocessed code as well AFAIK. That is, the compiler has to support them too. My comment was not to say that coding cpp is easy -

Here's a complete C frontend that uses the lex/yacc approach - https://github.com/eliben/pycparser (the Python ports of them, that is) FWIW, if I had to do this again today I would certainly go for hand-writt

Out of curiosity - why do you consider cpp particularly hard? It's easier than the compiler, actually :)

It's cute how he compares his "for loop parser" that handles C for-loops with Clang's, that handles C++ stuff including range loops - to show how his code is simpler :) Silly silly Clang developers for making their code

There will be no inflection point. The process is gradual and is long under way. To clean a house in the area can cost ~$150. Good nannies can make $50-60K a year. Plumbers are expensive. Gardeners are expensive. And so on. This is just bas

It's going to take quite a while before the restaurant waiters and dish washers, house cleaners, plumbers and gardeners of the valley will be replaced by machines though.

I agree that criticizing what's essentially a gift isn't "nice". But, on the other hand, this move reeks of evil-ness. Instead of bringing 3rd world people knowledge and freedom, we bring them Facebook. This is embarrass

Is Facebook still planning to gate the internet in India behind Facebook, though? I recall they had plans to give folks in third world countries access to Facebook only, which is extremely sad.

This is an incredibly well-written and interesting piece. Is it only me, but what seems to have solved the author's problem is getting back "into the flow", by finding an area of research she was keenly interested in? Also, t
