Conservatives also care deeply about morality and society, but their opinions often hide behind whatever legal interpretation gives them the policy outcome they desire. Thomas is a textualist when the text is favorable. If it's not, su

Yes, exactly: it's a policy decision. Congress could pass a law altering what affirmative action is allowed if they wanted a different policy.

This is incorrect. The names in the NBER study were drawn from actual birth certificate data correlated with race. It was not a subjective choice from researchers. Latonya was used because Latonya was the first name given to 4.7% of the bla

I think it's much more likely that there's nothing to this, rather than it being part of a secret ongoing conspiracy to manipulate the public.

Sounds more nonsensical than anything. Why would "they" want to do this? Who is "they"? Marco Rubio is talking about UFOs now, but he played down covid and was against lockdowns and masking.

That’s just the example client code, not the sync code. It’s showing you how to demo that the sync works. You’re not expected to use that in production. https://mycelial.com/docs/get-started/python#observing-synch.

If a site gets even a little popular it attracts spam and security scanners and other nonsense no matter how it's built.

It's possible that more people are aware of Bitcoin than 18 months ago, but I doubt many think it's more resilient. Since Bitcoin depends on a functioning network it seems more likely than something physical like Beanie Babies or

This is a weird argument. Every computer runs Chrome so that doesn't explain why anyone would want a ChromeOS device. There's nothing wrong with the name, but it's also not so well-known or self-evident that it never needs to

I like ChromeOS but it has <2% market share and has the same name as the most popular web browser in the world. Every windows and mac computer is also a "box with Chrome on it."

Google really isn't great at marketing. I'm sure there are many people who could use a Chromebox who don't know what it is.

All 3 of the health insurance plans I've used recently have a tool like this in their portal. They have the data; it's the average of what the providers have charged other members.

My memory is far from perfect, but I don't think that was me. It's pretty much exactly how a growth-focused PE is supposed to work so one would hope it has actually happened that way at least a few times.

To be fair, I think there are also some PE firms that simply aren't that good at their job.

PE acquired us and was a great partner. Allowed us to do larger M&A deals than we otherwise could have. Supportive but mostly stayed out of the way. Never suggested any cuts or anything that would impact culture. Ultimately led to us be

Reddit was around for like a decade before they added Gold, which was primarily a way to try to make money. My sense is it didn't work very well. And I'm confused. Are you censoring abusive posts or not? Who decides what's ab

Which email client automatically creates links? Virtually everyone uses HTML email, which can link any text to any destination. If your users are clicking links to download files that they got via email from untrusted sources...then the dom

I’m confused what you’re advocating. If your family isn’t checking the domain before downloading and executing files then the .zip tld doesn’t matter. They’re just as vulnerable to phishing without it.

If I hover over the link like my phishing training says to do, Chrome correctly shows it as " https://v1271.zip " If I don't bother hovering over the link then the domain never mattered at all. Could have hosted the

I'm not doubting you can trick people into engaging with a phishing site that looks like WinRAR. I just don't think the domain makes any difference.

The SEC didn't sue them over Bitcoin. Seems obvious that Bitcoin shouldn't be unregulated and that there should be no question of which regulator has jurisdiction. Unfortunately that probably needs Congress to act.

They used to do it...by simply ignoring the laws. That's a measure of the chutzpah of the people running some of these early exchanges, not anything inherent about a distributed blockchain. In fact e-gold did all that 20 years ago with

Well yeah of course it would be easier to send money without any KYC laws. That has nothing to do with crypto.
