the anthropomorphization (say that 3 times quickly) is kinda weird, but also makes for a much more pleasant conversation imo. it's kinda tedious being pedantic all the time.

some form of bias is inescapable. ideally i think we would train models on an equal amount of Western/non-Western, etc. texts to get an equal mix of all biases.

I played a bit of Discworld, really great game. I love all the Terry Pratchett usenet quotes in the game. I also played quite a bit of Ancient Anguish (still around) and Forsaken Lands (still around)

you need a couple RTX 6000 pros to come close to matching cloud capability

i would say: probably not if your async thread is so busy that you need another one, then it's probably not an async workload to begin with. i work on a python app which uses threads and async, but only have one async thread because it

it's very common for different projects to have different requirements, especially for fast moving libraries like transformers. if you rarely run python stuff it might not be a big deal, but i'd rather not have to reinstall stuff

the problem with that is it effects the entire application and makes the whole thing free-threading incompatible. it's quite possible to make a python app that requires libraries A and B to be able to be loaded into a free-threaded app

you need at least an RTX 6000 pro, maybe 2 to run local models on that level. probably only worth it if you plan on doing other workloads like finetuning or generating a lot of synthetic data

both are equally important. compute for prefill and mem bandwidth for generation

i'm fine with upholding laws, but secret police are bullshit. we have a serious problem with police accountability in the USA, they shouldn't be allowed to obscure their badge number and face, as that only encourages bad behavior.

i haven't seen any mention of lasers here, so i'll add my laser anecdote. I have a very active German shepherd rescue. I made the mistake of introducing him to the laser pointer which I used to exercise my previous dog, a doberman

that's not totally accurate imo. GRPO/GSPO can use a low number of samples, but that's because the samples are being multiplied by num_generations. i mean, you technically can do a non-RL finetune with 100-200 samples, but
