Google benefits, the costs are negligible compared to the revenue they get. Its the entire business model. The problem for content creators is I can't think of much written content that i'm willing to pay a subscription fee for. I

I don't know what you get for calling it a boycott or not (can I pay with my moral high ground?), it is clearly a mass rejection of targeted advertising in all its forms and that seems to be the important part.

I see a common thread running through all of gender politics and specifically objectification, the idea that you are what you enjoy doing. You are not a free willed person with a more or less set amount of empathy, you are an unmolded piece

Looks like they are having some problems with caching. Many labels in major cities are cut off. Caching is hard, especially when you aren't using an out-of-the-box product like ESRI

People admire characters like Walter White because they are blind to all the lives he has destroyed and they see only the desire to be great at something. It is the same with any capitalist. Any great enterprise looks a lot less amazing onc

It seems to me that the poem is more about regret than the stories we tell ourselves about our lives to make us feel better about the randomness of the universe. The poet desperately wants to know what would've happened (if anything) o

in most cases we're talking about people who build their houses in category 1 storm surge / 10 year flood zones and then expect a subsidy when inevitably natures does what it does.

Thinking about this some more, it would seem that if we really have a Capital Maximizer then the system's process toward its objective (creating capital) is highly inefficient. If your goal is to create capital in the world you need be

War can only destroy capital, perhaps the most breathtaking destruction of capital in history was WWII. So War would be antithetical to this hypothetical capital maximizer and it would be it's among its top priorities to avoid it. Simi

Its more interesting when you consider how it applies to living beings. If I replace every part of a dog with cybernetics, is it still the same dog? At what point does it stop being the same dog? The brain? The nervous system? Other various

For me Soylent would have to be incredibly inexpensive to replace a meal or two a day. I like the idea of a cheap way to avoid going out when I don't feel like cooking, but I'm thinking ~$30 a month to replace a meal a day, not $1

Seems like they would need to be much larger than prosumer drones in order to carry anything bigger than a blu-ray. If a drone the size of the one in the 60 minutes demo hit helicopter blades you'd probably be looking at fatalities.

Nobody knows what the final specs are yet, look at the resolution and the refresh rate when they release that info and pick a card that can reach that frame rate in your favorite game. I'm hoping for 120hz!

Miyazaki is a rising star at From Software. Also Kojima isn't dead. I don't expect him to stop making games just because he broke up with Konami. I have no doubt he'll land on his feet.
