Simple has several significant limitations, namely, the need to mail checks over a certain threshold (I think $5k) and I don't know whether they do credit origination, either. End of the day, I went with good-old-brick'n'mort

Urban coastal real estate is expensive because more people want to live there. Jobs + great weather + anti-development policy = high prices. Really...it's that simple.

Chuck as I'm sure you know, VC is just a subset of the larger world of private equity in general. What I'm wondering is why PE has traditionally been practiced only by high-net worth households/institutions. I wonder what it

If banks are just capital aggregators, do you think another party could play that role in the future? Like a mini-family office where 2-3 families get together, put in 10-20k each to get enough equity, and invest in a portfolio of assets? O

It depends a lot on your mentality toward writing code. I find matching the long/short-termness of engineering practice to the overall mentality of the organization results in the least friction. Concrete example: if you're buildi

I'm an engineer. I could go into a high-risk career trying to cure cancer, or I could flip houses. By my (admittedly rough and speculative) math, I'd make more money doing the second. This has nothing to do with finance and everyt

Your understanding is correct, founder shares are typically just common, the same as employees get, whereas a lot of early-stage capital partners (investors) get a different class of stock with a preference attached. OTOH founders typically

I've never encountered this but agree, that can lead to a real hell of branching. Do you dead-end your releases and then backport certain things from your mainline to previous release branches? Sounds like a headache but probably the b
