Even without other tokens before it the LLM is probably showing the probability of dice rolls based on its training data. I’d guess humans tend to prefer “3” or “4” as it’s nearer the avg/median and feels fairer. AFAICT, the LLMs aren’

Certainly a biased view of religious home schoolers. Most of my religious friends who homeschool are college educated and many have postgraduate degrees. Some do disbelieve evolution, or at least disdain it a bit. Pretty much all of them ar

It's not all that tasty. After visiting Europe I always find American foods to be grossly sweet. It's a race to the bottom that you only notice if you get out of the cycle for a bit.

Fascinating that with such a simple simulation you can see grain boundaries like those in metals forming. Look at the second image, those are almost identical to what they looked like in our material science courses.

What? Nah C++ is some template based language. The real object-oriented evolution of C is Objective-C. ;)

Oddly "hackers" are the ones who often revive defunct hardware or give users back control over their devices. Things like DRM laws seem to only enhance corporate interests.

First I heard of it but Chimera sounds very interesting from an IoT / Embedded Linux perspective. I've been looking for a while for Linux distro that's easy to build from scratch and customizable.

Hmmm, I could imagine microplastics, PFAS, artificial dies, excessive and unhealthy amounts of sugar would all have a deleterious effect on IQ. Perhaps even specifically pre frontal cortex, etc. Though that goes against Europe hitting the d

Another bit I discovered is the quality of resistors. Pretty much any op amp circuit will use resistors. Often the resistors limit the static offsets. Don’t stick with 1% for analog circuits as 0.1% precision resistors are cheap and come wi

Great write up. And definitely skip the 60 year old models. Also valuable to look for is ESD protection. Many op amps have good 2kV static shock protection. Really sucks to have cascading failures due to touching your circuit and blowing an

Ah ‘fieldNames’, looks very similar to Nim’s ‘fieldPairs’. It’s an incredibly handy construct! It makes doing efficient serialization a breeze. I recently implemented a compile time check for thread safety checks on types using ‘fieldPairs’

I don’t think mirror bacteria would do that well. They’d have to survive all the other handed chemicals already out there and to be able to use the other handed proteins and sugars for food to become pests. Furthermore immune systems can cr

Having supported team members where we were all running this setup there was constant fiddling with docker. Containers would freeze and often required restarting docker directly. Especially with WSL on windows. It’s slick when it works.

Otherwise you make good points. Companies like Intuit using AI as a justification to lay off lots of devs will face issues later when it comes about that it doesn’t scale.

Additionally calling C++ from other languages is a pain and you're forced to make a bridge C API. Doing so from Go is even less than ideal from what I gather. It requires using cgo and forces Go to interface with C call stacks, slows d

It looks like it, but LLMs still lack critical reasoning by and large. So if a client tells them or asks for something nonsensical it won’t reason its way out of that. I’m not worried about software as a profession yet, as first clients wil
