If you look at global markets the same way, the fall of the Soviet Union was also remarkably localized, it's just that the Union and its Satellite states covered so much of the planet.

A fun bit of history I learned from a retired Soviet Analyst...My analyst friend learned of this years later from his Russian counterpart, after finally being allowed to visit the country he had studied for so long so I'm guessing it's pret

Some dishonest advice about this - Give them false data to boost your own negotiation. If the perceived delta between your old salary and the new one your are asking for doesn't seem unreasonable, then you can likely get it.

Absolutely fantastic notes, the standout ones to me: "They have had 7 significant revisions in 11 years" - This echos something I've learned in my own career. You'll never ever ever ever get it right the first time. If you spend all of your

For Pete's sake, it's about time. I think that the lack of mobile editing has been the #1 thing that's prevented me from using Docs for any serious work.

It's Achilles Heel of all general purpose semantic graphs, "it'll work if only we add more stuff to the graph!" except I'm not convinced that the approach will ever work, no matter how large the graph is.

I don't disagree re: Cyc. I am however, trying to draw an analogy between Cyc and an open Semantic Web. If Cyc has issues like the ones you describe, these issues will only be magnified ad infinitum in a completely open graph where there ar

The Cyc project, while fascinating, is basically a serious attempt at a general purpose semantic graph. It's been in the works since the early 80's. And you know what? It should act as a warning to anybody thinking seriously about building

One wonders, what exactly makes a person "superhuman"? What if you're just 5% better than the mean? 10%? Does the label "human" encompass all of the variations? Does an IQ in the top 1-2% of a nation make somebody "superhuman"? (I originall
