This was definitely a feature that I thought about implementing before publicizing the app. It seems that I should get this done ASAP.

I always have my cell on either silent or vibrate mode. This frees me from unwanted distractions. But there is one slight problem to this whole "free your time" deal: your friends might get annoyed at the delayed response. But I think they'

I don't know how anyone can learn Rails without knowing how to program. I know designers that call themselves web "developers." But I wouldn't call someone a developer if their development involves installing thirty gems and copy and pastin

Wow, this is basic stuff. I'm surprised that a researcher would get this wrong. Also, let us not forget that tail recursion is a specific form of the more general tail call optimization . For example, the following is two TCO-able function

Write In a Formal Style Formal style is boring. I think he meant conversational style . Write as if you are having a nice, friendly conversation with your peers. This produces persuasive writing.

I've been following Ooc for a long time, mostly because I liked the syntax. It's a weird blend of C and Ruby. nddrylliog, I think you should make the "jump to" navigation easier to find in the intro guide.

The researchers probably did it on purpose. It's their way of warning us of what they are about to unleash.

I start with a "that takes like 3 seconds easy" sub-feature on the "it looks really easy" feature such as entering a user's name into a text box. Then I ask the "looks really easy" person questions: - What is a "name" exactly? - What about

Thanks for the reply. I am now at peace and can continue the tutorial. But a question. I guess I don't fully comprehend Rails sessions, but if you try to spoof user 17, wouldn't Rails notice this due to the cookie checksum?

I've gone through 9 chapters of this tutorial, but I don't know if I want to finish it. The first few chapters were great and a lot of fun. Michael removed a lot of magic that I never understood. But I suppose my worries are irreconcilable:

I agree, for the most part. More and more webapps are providing APIs for 3rd party developer. And why not, right? It benefits everyone. But I think Twitter understood from the beginning that they didn't need a super awesome native client. W

Well, what did you except out of a CS (== computer science ) degree? If you want to be a great software developer, then you should (1) major in CS and (2) learn how to program. These are usually two separate but mutually beneficial things.
