Unfortunately, he doesn't give any arguments at all for his recommendations against those tools.

Maybe they didn't swear on the bible, but when you use a tool from a company with which Heroku has a partnership, you expect that tool to give accurate readings. I would, at least.

A very well-known and recommended book in this space is "The Web Application Hacker's Handbook."

I've been listening a lot of Hans Zimmer's music lately.

Nice, I'm on the same road. I'm also looking at Ansible, it's just that I haven't got around to it yet.

In what way is your message to him helpful?

The article says that. The title of this posting is a bit sensationalist, although it's used as a subtitle in the article itself.

I don't know exactly what a valuable programmer is, but I'll give you numbers regarding my situation, so that we talk about concrete things. I do Python/Django work and I have 3 years of experience. I have a GitHub profile which I show when

If you still want to learn how to code, try with different languages. Python is a favourite for people starting out with programming, for example.

Your first statement was that you need a degree to get a job. Having a degree gives you access to more jobs, but you can get a job just fine without a degree.

Yes, there are some dots you need to connect between his two statements. I'm assuming that he meant the following: those machine-readable specs also need to be read by humans at some point, just like code, and, since JSON is more readable,

That may be so, but most opinions I hear in discussions about XML vs JSON say that JSON is more readable, probably because it's less redundant and similar to data structures found in some programming languages.

Thanks for answering. In my case, I'm looking more at the Hetzner VPS offering, because it's in the same price range and has better specs than the equivalent Linode.

You wouldn't call it "just paying the bills" if it was meaningful. Meaningful in this context means something that you would do for free. At least, that's how I define it. That's not to say that 70% of the world's struggle is meaningless. I

He didn't define meaningful, because it's subjective and unique individual, so it might well be working for a larger corporation. His point was that the attitude around HN is to look for meaningful work as opposed to work that just pays the

Yes, that counts, but in the end it's also the performance of the actual browser that counts and keeps people as users.

I just checked Hetzner out and their VPS is also cheaper than Linode. Are you satisfied with their services?

Can anyone say what is a good JavaScript learning resource for people with programming experience? I'm interested in tips on writing idiomatic code and the pitfalls that should be avoided.

You tell me. You're the one saying that some languages are more flexible and expressive than others. How do you measure that?

Is there an objective way to measure the flexibility and expressiveness of programming languages?

Right and my point still stands. If you don't have the expertise that they require specifically, don't waste your time, or worse, lie.

If a company asks for specific experience with a technology and exclude candidates familiar with other technologies, I recommend getting out of there.

Well, the Django ORM also allows you to write SQL by hand and if you make a mistake you can fall pray to SQL injection, so I'm assuming that there's something different about this exploit. From what I understand the current issue appears be
