I came to love pattern matching so much that now when I write TypeScript I get frustrated. It is a weird balance.

So, this got me curious. Assuming a cpu heavy benchmark with no syscalls (calculate primes or something like that) I’d not really expect a major difference between OSs. I guess you have the scheduler possibly fucking things up and the memor

Whenever I used channels in Go, I regretted it at the end. Always have to look up "what happens when I do x and the channel is closed" kind of stuff. Code becomes weird with all the selects and shit. I like sync primitives and goo

I’ve seen a couple videos of Dave Plummer and they were fun. Gave some insight to internals of Windows etc. I even followed him on YT back then. But lately it feels like I see him all the time and there is something off with the guy. Can’t

As a side note, zig supports arbitrary width integers. I'd like more languages to support that. You can have i7, i3, i1024 or whatever you want (I guess up to some limit). Makes it a lot easier to handle packed binary files etc.

While the implementation is straightforward enough, this post clearly shows me why I don’t like Rust. So, the function accepts two values that implement Mid trait. And there is a blanket implementation for Mid that applies to anything can b

VsCode surprises me to be honest. Besides slow starts, it does not seem to be suffering from any major slowdown for me. I’d expect that thing to get bloated pretty far, really fast.

Used both a lot. I like both. Vue makes things simpler and when you get a hang of the reactivity fundementals, it is a breeze to work with. React has more 3rd part support. Larger ecosystem and much better tooling. You’ll have better editor

Ok haven’t tested this but assuming a naive implementation of an array of 1000 items and setting completed: true in one of them by updating the array would trigger 1000 calls to the inner components. If the react compiler is used, 999 of th

The compiler is interesting. I was expecting it to analyse dependencies and create automated useMemo calls around everything. I mean write regular, readable React code someone might write manually. It does not do that, instead it creates a

I might be completely wrong as I only played with rust but the current method seems to couple any async libraries you’d like to write to the executor. Which feels wrong imo. Would it be feasible to provide async io (file, network) code in s

Instead of SQS, I recently created a basic abstraction on PG that mimics the SQS apis. The intention was to use it during development and we would simply switch to SQS later. Never did. The production code still uses PG based queue (which h

Nope. I give Linux serious shots at least once a year. Never sticks. The desktop environments are always shit. I even built a specific, compatible pc last february to go with linux. It now runs a headless Fedora server in my study.
