Pointing out the long-term benefits of something without acknowledging either the long-term or short-term(which aren't really short-term if you continue to use it in the long term, but simply take effect sooner) costs doesn't justify any co

Google Voice doesn't compete with AT&T any more than a VOIP provider that you use via your DSL or cable internet competes with your ISP. They provide different services, and the one you are arguing competes with the telephone carrier or

Google Voice doesn't offer phone functionality(with the exception of SMS). It offers bidirectional phone call forwarding functionality. The price isn't the real issue. The difference in functionality is. Edit: I was less clear than I meant

The critical question here is "Is a call-forwarding service the same as a telephone provider?" Google has no cell phone towers or phone lines. When you call someone with Google Voice this happens: 1. Google calls the number you're calling

I'm not entirely sure how machine code(or LLVM bytecode, if you'd prefer) produced by a program written in ML is at all inferior to the same machine code(actually, probably less optimized machine code, given that ML is a high level language

It mentions that those languages tend to have added operators(like backreferences) to regular expressions that make matching them NP-complete.

Yes, but is Evernote currently worth using as an example of how to make a profit? I don't think so.

The whole point of the article is that Evernote is not making money and aren't even expected to break even until 2011.

Although I agree with the article's overall idea, his example of Okami and Legend of Zelda as games with totally different ideas and similar game mechanics is a horrible example. Okami's game mechanics are quite different from Zelda's.
