I think no matter how one gets to this perspective, it’s the only way out. We must care less, because if we care too much, we can’t handle it and we fall apart. Humans aren’t built to live with constant fear and stress. Of course that need

An interesting but plausible idea I saw once was simply weighing oneself daily, and letting your subconscious do the rest. I think the idea is to add a score, and hey looks like now this is a game, and I wanna move that score. But it remo

If a deal is inked, you can post, but even then usually you’d check in about messaging. I think you were just super pumped :) but it’s still a faux pas.

Another take would be providing jobs to refugees who just fled. More job options is better for people than fewer.

You might be right, but the UK public sector isn't evidence, private sector almost always pays more, everywhere and no matter what industry. One could make a case the other way - that companies won't lower public salaries, because

I used it all the time in business. You're talking to someone, and can know what you want in real-time, without saying, "ok I'll run the numbers and get back to you." Sometimes that doesn't matter, but lots of bus

I’ve been learning a lot about this. It’s pretty wild. Anyone interested in this should look up Polyvagal Theory. This related book with a strange name has been incredible to read. “Accessing the healing power of the vagus nerve.”

I remember learning that the reason school busses don’t have seat belts is that as a transportation method, busses have such ridiculously low mortality rate that you don’t want to change anything. Almost anything you might do could only ma

Please ignore if this takes us off-topic, but is this a case for micropayments, done via cryptocurrency? Because I think a successful implementation of micropayments might solve for this. I don't want to subscribe to any regular news,

That could be true, but given that few systems cannot be compromised by a determined attacker with resources, it seems worth thinking through what happens if a fleet of these is controlled remotely by people with bad intent.

You’re right, but this is always the way. Accommodating people with differing needs/sensitivities usually helps everyone. non-fluorescent lighting, reduced noise, etc. The majority of people are affected by something but don’t realize

It’s been gone for many years but I feel obliged to give a shout-out to hacker news magazine. It was fantastic. Someone collected the most interesting stories and printed it and shipped it out. I think in the end it wasn’t sustainable, sad
