Exactly. This person is comparing the straight-A's lifestyle to doing nothing, and ignoring the opportunity cost they paid. What else could they have learned or done during that time?

I disagree. Don't you need to validate their email address so you know you're reaching only people who wanted to sign up?

Not sure it's so hard... with a leaderboard there's much more incentive to start working with others to vote up your submissions, use multiple accounts, etc.

Even if they back down, my opinion of Facebook is much reduced because they implemented this. How could anyone have thought this was a good idea for users?

Interesting idea, but it wouldn't fit the different user types - someone on the site all day needs more votes for the same level of scarcity as someone who's on the site 20 mins a day. Otherwise one person has scarcity and one has plenty.

... and perhaps combined with making it clear that your reason is public would be interesting as well. Great food for thought thanks.

Yep, that's the site. Glad you like it. :) I've been thinking similarly about 'mark as inappropriate' - that it could give people a way to express themselves about the question, even if it doesn't have a large effect on the site. We coul

The fact that they're offering you 2% for equal work/risk (after all, you lose just as much as they do if it fails) says more about them than whatever idea they're pursuing. I'd walk away.

I'm no expert either, but from what I've read by the end of multiple rounds, they could own that much. Right out of the gate a 20% or 30% is more common. As a company comes back for more rounds of funding, the founders get diluted. The VC

Some interesting ideas in there but the table showing ownership is a bit misleading. It compares owning 85% of a $10 million dollar company (bootstrapping) to owning just 15% of a similar $10 million dollar company (outside investment). No

Hey white, This kind of idea is hard to evaluate up-front. Sometimes you just have to build it and see but I think you could be onto something. If you do it, try to integrate visual ways of showing that the app is working, and spend effort
