If you're the cofounder of a startup that just got accepted in to YC (reading your username) you are overpaid.

The amount of negativity in this thread about Zuckerberg as president is pretty astounding. 2020 Trump vs Zuck I would wager a bet that this thread would be filled with different opinions.

Hackers would not go after Spotify to get free Spotify premium. If they are breached, what's happening to you has nothing to do with it.

My point is there are thousands of pieces to how computers work that people don't understand. If you RELY on privacy you should have better opsec than just using your daily driver to build your go binaries. Compartmentalizing your life

This. If you actually NEED to care about your privacy for whatever reason, you should have better opsec than building go binaries, a complicated process that you probably don't fully understand and may contain system artifacts, on your

Because no evidence supports the theory that the electricity system was hacked. In SF, I live near the PG&E substation that had a problem due to a fire. There's nothing fishy about that...

The difference between what we have and continuous deployment is not that big. We don't have continuous deployment, but we could. Things are pushed to staging automatically, but to production it is not.

Monitoring - CPU Usage, HTTP Response codes, Login Failures, Login Successes, Ratelimit events. Testing - Unit tests, Integration tests, nothing fancy. PHPUnit or whatever framework you want. All hooked in to CI. Tests should always pass.

This. This. This. This. This. You are way more likely to never ship and get stuck learning tons of tiny things that don't matter. Ship, and ship with technical debt shamelessly.

It's interesting that http2 server push is not supported. Any reason why? Server push is a weird feature but very useful and popular.

Not just CDN, there's benefits to rolling out SRI for lots of your third parties. Your stripe js, scary ad networks js, front-end analytics companies. SRI is really neat and helps protect yourself from these many 3rd parties being pwne

My go-to question is: "What technical problems are you solving right now?" Usually you get good information that you can deduce a lot from. It's simple, it's polite, it's opens a whole conversation about whatever yo

I would apply to a position on our site and write a nice cover letter (our recruiters are great and actually read it). If you have hobby projects you have built, mention them proudly and show them off (this is the way I was hired at cloudfl

Dang. Unfortunately I am not vulnerable, and I use default ohmyzsh. This is a neat bug, though. Lots of package managers have similar problems, and I would not be surprised if there's a lot of git/shell/environment problems l

The folks over there work really hard and care a lot. I'm sure that's the same with all the password managers too, but I know personally having worked at LastPass how much the founders care.

Another blow to the utility of AntiVirus. I hate the AV industry in infosec. It does not work well and in most cases, refundes security. Unbelievable that it's still required for a lot of compliance veers.
