A slightly different version was in use in Denmark: a ship declared the value of their cargo for toll purposes. They decided the price, but the catch was the customs could buy the cargo at that price.

If you fail an interview because the interviewer was unreasonable, sometimes you should be thankful and think of it as a bullet dodged. Yes, an otherwise good company might have a bad interviewer, but if they don't have some feedback l

I have been rather loud about this and while I don't think my voice has meant much I think I have been part of a growing group of people who - together - are making a dent in this monopoly. Becoming part of it isn't hard either, i

I have another explanation. Lets start with what the article says, but doesn't explain: > And now, in Anno Domini 2024, Google has lost its edge in search. There are plenty of things it can’t find. There are compelling alternatives.

Even in Apples "curated", "premium" official app store I never get the thing I search for first. I always get an ad for something else (that isn't marked as an ad).

Take it from someone who has made meaningful code in JS since 2005: - JS as a three week project is amazing - JS as a lingua franca for web is a disaster in the same league as null pointers. It is like if backend had decided to standardize

It is easy to do mocks wrong. Here is however an example of how one does it right. Say you have a system that accepts input, does something with it and stores it to some storage. You don't want to touch actual storage in the build pipe
