I don't disagree that they could have started with a better name, but I think that ship has sailed years ago when they covered SF with the name on billboards, including one that literally says: > Don't charge it, Brex it. http

If I had to guess, I'd say the biggest contributor to poor unit economics for small business vs startups is credit losses. Startups usually have tons of cash in the bank to underwrite against, which made them actually very safe to lend

That's a perfectly valid choice! FWIW, I actually do like Mercury's UX marginally better than Brex. I would just prefer to have my banking and spending in 1 place, and if I did that with Mercury, I'd be sacrificing 1%+ reward

That's totally understandable, for the small business segment. I was just saying that for a VC-backed tech startup, the lack of rewards is a huge turn-off, compared to some of the other options for spending available to us.

I would guess they probably found that the "small business" segment of their customers ended up contributing to a disproportional percentage of fraud, support requests, etc, to the point they were net negative? Though I still wond

While it's great to maintain good enough unit economics to not have to pull stunts like this one, it's not necessarily always a plus from a customer perspective. Comparing Mercury and Brex/Ramp specifically, Mercury is notabl

Nope, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Though not sure who to trust at this point haha... Anyone have other recommendations for where I should keep my domains?

Wow, that's terrible. Thank you for the heads up. Just transferred my domains back to namecheap. While we're all here venting about Cloudflare, is anyone else frustrated about how they lure you in to their CDN product with "f

Even though I would personally choose to use the hosted version, I still consider the availability of an open-source solution to be a great hedge against vendor lock-in/failure. This is only true if I can be confident that I can replic

I would consider HA/clustering/auto-scaling to be table stakes for something as mission critical as secrets management. As far as I can see, this is fully available in the open-source version of Vault: https://learn.has

As someone who still enjoys SF and wants to keep living here, I read this as great news since I expected rents to decrease by a similar amount. But I just checked my apartment's website and it seems like if anything the rents have slig

Also, the list of limitations on the self-hosted open-source version reads like something that is only offered to tick an open-source checkbox: https://docs-v2.envkey.com/docs/self-hosting-open-source-env... Very clear

I was looking at this with great interest, until I looked at the pricing and found out the lowest hosted pricing tier starts at $150/month. I know there's a free "community" hosted version, but I'm not sure what the

Disagree wholeheartedly. One of the under-appreciated superpowers of gradually typed systems like TypeScript is the ability to ignore errors in parts of the codebase I don't care about right now, and focus on exercising the runtime beh

Curious if YC has any data on the outcomes of the co-founder matching programs they've been running? I'm a bit apprehensive because most of the advice I've heard from YC and elsewhere about finding a co-founder involves looki

Wanted to second this recommendation. It's still very hard for me to design a _good_ looking website from scratch as that takes actual creativity and imagination, but after reading Refactoring UI I at least have a bunch of tactics to s
