The most important step is to remember that data is a "toxic asset"[0], in that as long as you have it its a potential danger. Data deletion is a valid strategy for controlling risks, and as bdibs said in another top-level comment

It's the same reason that software engineers love greenfielding projects. Architecting clean, fresh systems is romantic! You won't make any of the mistakes that you've now learned from! All this needless complexity can be don

All credit goes to Matthew Rayfield ( http://matthewrayfield.com/ ). He has some very... interesting projects that should be right up HN's alley. Code for the project can be found here: http://matthewrayfield.

I think that the most plausible way that Category Theory is going to improve your life as an engineer is that it will sneak into the way your tools are designed. You don't personally need to know about the Yoneda lemma to benefit from

If you're interested in the work that led to this, definitely check out Kenichi Asai's reflective languages. The code for his Black language with reflective semantics is reproduced here: [0] More tangential but also cool: this tal

If anyone is looking to get into Category Theory as a programmer, I would recommend giving Bartosz Milewski's Category Theory for Programmers a shot[0]. Quite good, and you can read it as a blog post on that site or get the ebook/

I think the issue is deeper than equality of outcome and opportunity being two different problems: as we have seen equality of outcome implemented so far, it explicitly violates the conditions that need to exist for equality of opportunity.

The claim is poorly phrased in the headline. From the article ( https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rsos.181393 ), you are exposed to around 2000 bits of language-related information each day, which appar
