Dwarf Fortress, as mentioend in one of the comments, is a big counterexample. Other older ASCII art games that remain popular fall into this bin as well (NetHack, Rogue). Not to mention any of the popular Flash games with graphics somewhere

Something that makes the Eastland quite horrifying is that it didn't take place far out at sea: it took place in the Chicago River. I don't know if you've spent any time in Chicago, but the river goes through the heart of the

It is a joke about the tendency of archaeologists to classify everything they find as being either part of a garbage dump (aka a midden[0]) or as some variety of religious artifact [1]. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

For a detailed perspective on how the proof works, I highly recommend Ernest Nagel and James Newman's book Gödel's Proof [0], mentioned in the article. Alternatively, Gödel Escher Bach by Douglas Hofstader is a classic which s

I highly recommend people read HCF 2002 (and its follow up HCF 2005) to see what precisely Chomsky thinks on this subject. I tracked down a copy if anyone is interested in reading it: * HCF 2002 -- http://psych.colorado.edu/
