Weren't the "beneficial effects" of turmeric (or to curcumin, to be more exact) found to be based on fake research? The researcher who started the whole thing about turmeric, Bharat Aggarwal, had to retract 30 (!) of his pape

The "opinion of economists" is why we'll be paying $1T+ in interest on our debt this year, and why we print $2T a year and haven't balanced the budget in well over two decades. I have kids. I'm not going to saddle t

Yeah. But I never took any of the steroid stuff. I only compete with my former self. Not being able to throw 400lbs overhead is fine. I also want to be able to walk when I'm old.

Good to see such experimentation, especially when the person conducting the experiments takes the results with a grain of salt. I was first exposed to supplements when I started lifting seriously, a decade ago. Man oh man, some people go cr

As someone in the market for a Cybertruck, this doesn't look like desperation to me. These are fairly standard perks. Now a low APR _and_ free FSD, that'd be a serious incentive. That's what I'm waiting for.

Citation needed. The President has complete, unilateral classification and declassification authority. He can also grant or withdraw clearance to/from anyone, without any background checks.

It's ironic that we're discovering this article from a feed. Sorry to tell you folks, but there's no defense against FOMO other than willpower. And the willpower is currently in short supply.

Yeah, I don't think Trump has any sympathy for Google whatsoever, given how censorious (and proud of it) it was on both Google Search and on YouTube in the 2020 election cycle. Good luck, Google, you're gonna need it. That said, C

While I agree with you in theory, the practice of this has been somewhat less optimistic. So far AMD hardware _doesn't even work_. That's why Geohot had to write his own stack. Moreover, it also doesn't sell - there's ma

That's because the market believes AMD will eventually get its head of its ass on GPUs and start to grow in that segment. Once it starts to grow there, that PE will go up even higher.

Deepseek and Qwen are in China, that's how. If you look at non-US asset prices, the only conclusion is either they are massively underpriced, or US assets are massively overpriced. You have industrial giants (with revenues and profits

Could anyone suggest a tool which would take a bunch of PDFs (already OCR-d with Finereader), and replace the OCR overlay on all of them, maintaining the positions? I would like to have more accurate search over my document archive.

I think "deep research" is a misnomer, possibly deliberate. Research assumes the ability to determine quality, freshness, and veracity of the sources directly from their contents. It also quite often requires that you identify whe

Pretty much. In addition, PyTorch on the Mac is abysmally bad. As is Jax. Idk why Apple doesn't implement proper support, seems important. There's MLX which is pretty good, but you can't really port the entire ecosystem of ot

I run Mistral Large locally on two A6000's, in 4 bits. It's nice, but $10K in GPUs buys a lot of subscriptions. Plus some of the strongest LLMs are now free (Grok, DeepSeek) for web use.
