No mention of Apple on the page. Apple has been using 16K pages for years now.

No, not backwards. That’s how it is. I’ve observed this in several companies in the industry, starting with Microsoft. At the time the most profitable business unit was Office, and you couldn’t even get a t-shirt or other swag.

This strikes me as a better compromise than a high end mass produced watch. If you wanted to stand out and wear a conversation piece, this seems like a better choice.

Worrisome. If I were heavily dependent on AWS I’d start thinking about plan B.

This is an interesting corporate paradox that existed forever. It boils down to this: profit centers are always more frugal than cost centers. With cost centers you can say “you gotta spend money to make money” and PHBs will nod their heads

It’s easy to rationalize Google TC by looking at their balance sheet. Thanks to the work of Google employees it basically prints money. It’s only fair that they share in this success, since if Google could find someone cheaper, it would.

There’s literally a test button on any GFCI outlet or breaker which you can use to check if it’s wired right. And the wires are color coded and colors are marked on the back of the thing where you connect them. I pity the fool who pays seve

Disappointing, but not unexpected. The ruling/owner class wants you, the wage slave, to have as little mobility as possible so as to minimize competition for your labor, and therefore cost.

I’ve been seeing “China is doomed” articles for the last decade and yet it seems to be chugging along just fine. My wife and I decided to go there and see for ourselves. Can confirm, they’re doing more than all right. We’ll be back.

Yes, I'm aware US propaganda can be effective. I'm talking about the post-US future, where China is the top dog. They're heading there.

Not really, no. Much of the slack has already been taken up in GPT 3.5 era, and things haven’t dramatically improved since GPT4. 4o basically alludes to what I said above: it’s smaller and faster than 4, but the level of capability is very

I don’t see anything in any of this that contradicts my claim, although I can see how you were misled by the wording. “Never renouncing the use of force” is not the same thing as “threatening to use force”. Put bluntly, all China has to do

This doesn’t pass the sniff test. Each of these countries has domestically developed, strong LLMs. And even if they did not, they’d have absolutely no issue running the larger FOSS ones. You don’t need GPT4 to generate political drivel.
