These aren’t the “bad” guys. The “bad” guys are the people who put that backdoor in, deliberately or through lack of oversight.

I mean, rights are rights. In that regard there’s no difference between the two. 2nd amendment does not specify the type of arms nor the age at which your right to keep and bear them begins. Indeed until 1968 there was no consistent age lim

None of this works if your kid’s school requires a laptop. Which in 2024 all of them do. Kids older than 10 years old can easily bypass any “parental control” you can realistically deploy. But more to the point, I’d want the companies to at

Phones and other devices are basically a requirement from elementary school onwards. As a parent you can’t do anything about that. Contrary to popular belief children don’t just do what you tell them to do. They get addicted to this shit an

The problem with that is thanks to many years of below cost pricing Uber has become synonymous with taxi now, and most people don’t even realize (or care) that taxis are often cheaper.

That is unfortunate. We have already ruined a generation of kids. There’s no need to continue stepping on the same rake. Kids already don’t have “freedom of speech”, and neither do companies when working with kids.

Zoning, ok, but yellow cabs are now often cheaper than Uber. Last time I took a ride from the airport the difference was not small, like 50%.

It’s “real” in the same way as Steele Dossier was real. Who are these people? How do they relate to Trump? Did he endorse this? Did anyone of any consequence endorse this?

I’m not sure why they added this feature. All Apple SoCs have far more energy efficient compute than the CPU. This would only make sense for really tiny models which need extremely quick forward pass. For such models the overhead of a GPU

That’s the thing though. One cannot be a Scientologist without being familiar with Hubbard. Here you’re telling me that this is my Bible and I’ve never heard of it. If it were real, I’d know.

I’m a conservative (though not “republican”/neocon/neolib/uniparty) and I don’t even know what “project 2025” is. Nor do I know any supporters. As far as I can tell it’s just a smear device along the lines of “when did you st

Doubtful. Everyone is so GPU starved right now that many research directions can’t even be pursued. That’s why almost everyone is basically training the same architecture with minor variations. Once/if that starvation ends, research wi

Out of the question for the same reason as masks. I’m having trouble falling asleep as it is, without stuff in my nose, mouth, or on my face. The only thing I seriously tried for night use were nasal strips. I had semi-permanent stuffy nose

That’s cool and all but there’s not a lot we can do about it still. I cannot fall asleep in a mask. The only thing that works for me is sleeping with my mouth shut. If it’s open I end up still suffocating, but I worked out a sleeping positi

The US is not under threat and hasn’t really been since 1941. If there’s anything it needs to pay attention to it’s crime, infrastructure, affordability of medical care and housing, unsustainable government spending and so on.

You’re not giving Sundar enough credit for Google’s slide to the evil side. Ruth is as you mentioned merely an instrument. Sundar “McKinsey” Pichai is the Ballmer of Google. For as long as he’s at the helm I’m extremely bearish about Google
