This is a manifestation of Google drowning in excess headcount and unable to innovate because of endless fake make-work nonsense, where a team of highly compensated designers make the site less usable (gradient on the progress bar? Really?)

Writing is incredibly fun and rewarding for me. It also makes you think harder about things that you’re generally already interested in. And it gives you huge leverage: instead of trying to explain your thoughts to one or two people at a ti

That wasn't the case in 2009. And yeah, I do use 7zip mostly now, but it was a different story back then and WinRar was really fast and had really great compression and features. And who cares, it was like $20 or something.

Maybe I'm a sucker, but I bought a license for Sublime in like 2009 and re-upped for a later version. I also actually bought WinRAR from Eugene. It's good to support dedicated devs who make high quality tools that you use all the

I use both Sublime and Vscode every day for different things. Sublime is just so fast and responsive all the time, while vscode can get annoying slow and laggy, often because of all the many plugins I have running. If I just need simple tex

90% of the comments in this thread make it clear that knowing about technology does not in any way qualify someone to think correctly about markets and equity valuations.

Yes exactly. The actual impetus this time was the article I posted here and how it got echoed and amplified by massive X accounts like Chamath and Naval.

Yes this is exactly right. All you need is the right incentives and enough capital and markets will find away to breech any moat that’s not enforced via regulations.

I really don't think he's a bad guy. He helped accelerate timelines and backed this tech when it was still a dream. Maybe he's not the brains behind it but he's been the brawn, and I think people should try to be more ch

I had no idea this would get so much traction. I wanted to enhance my organic search ranking of my niche web app, not crash the global stock market!

Actually, compression is an incredibly good way to think about intelligence. If you understand something really well then you can compress it a lot. If you can compress most of human knowledge effectively without much reconstruction error w

Yes, AMD drivers work fine for games and things like that. Their problem is they basically only focused on games and other consumer applications and, as a result, ceded this massive growth market to Nvidia. I guess you can sort of give them

Exactly. You just need to see a slight deceleration in projected revenue growth (which has been running 120%+ YoY recently) and some downward pressure on gross margins, and maybe even just some market share loss, and the stock could easily

Yesterday I wrote up all my thoughts on whether NVDA stock is finally a decent short (or at least not a good thing to own at this point). I’m a huge bull when it comes to the power and potential of AI, but there are just too many forces arr
