FWIW Adrian Hon (the writer) is easily the game reviewer that I trust the most! I am quite sensitive to false positives with games - it really sucks to spend a few hours on a game that you drop - and my false positive rate with his reviews

Sorry yeah I'm talking very specifically about the stuttering that I first saw when making a square move into the tab bar. I was doing something inefficient (updating all my favicons many times a second), but I didn't really under

Matt's work is a huge inspiration for me! I definitely had his URL stuff in mind when making this, but it'd been a while since I had actually read through his blog / watched his video. It was really fun to come back to it mid

Doom is kind of a pain because: * afaik I'm capped at 4 FPS (just how often you can update tabs) * more of the screen is likely to update on each frame, which requires way more "turning canvases into data urls to update

I do the exact same thing! I think this pairs well with OP's point. In the moment, writing a blog is a nice way to indicate to myself that something is done. But the process of writing the blog forces me to find some lessons and takeaw

Yeah I'm sure I've fumbled some details here (sorry!) - I'm searching for this story again and haven't found it, but have found a few things about draft techniques that use print sheets[1] that focus on what you describe

I remember reading a story about a (now) well-known MTG player. It was about their experience at one of their first tournaments, and had this detail about how during the tourney he got some pointers from Kai Budde (I think) on drafting - an

I'm not sure if Stephen is on HN, but I asked him this question last week[1]. His response was that since the songs are different lengths, a file that was truly loop-able would be super long (if you have a 90 second song and a 2 minute

I was really curious reading this. Many years ago I read this blog post (from 2007!) by Jeff Atwood[1] that mentioned FizzBuzz, and I guess I had mentally filed away that Jeff Atwood invented FizzBuzz! But that is not true. Jeff's blog
