I can't tell whether you're just being tongue-in-cheek, or perfectly serious. I hope the former.

Here you go: http://hnweekly.chibidesign.com/ Googling brings it up too (turns out Google isn't all that bad).

The problem with that, is again, spam. How do you differentiate fake votes from real ones? You can do per-IP limiting, and probably other things I'm not aware of (please comment about them), but it's still pretty open to abuse I'd say.

Is there a niche for a mechanical engineer who can also program decently in this space? I recently graduated as a mechanical engineer, and have a passion for programming, so I've been looking for ways to combine the two,. But honestly, I ha

This is a really amazing piece of software, especially when you couple it with Sunflow rendering. You can get absolutely stunning 3D visuals whether or not you're at all artistic. All you need to do is define a few short rules, and you ofte

Instead of rate-limiting, there are two other options that solve the GP's concerns: the high water mark which controls the maximum queue length and the swap size, which saves messages to disk when the queue is full. http://ap

I just went throught gitolite's readme, and I don't see any reason why a lone dev might want to use it, since it seems to be built for managing teams with access control needs. Doing it manually for me just means (on the server): mk

About starting a business on F1: you can do it if you're on OPT and got your EAD card. Being self-employed is noted as one way to keep your status as an F1 with OPT (as 90 days unemployment means you're out of status), besides getting a job

Short of replacing the way toolbars work on IE now, I think the only solution for all the toolbars that already exist is for users to hate them as much as we do. Perhaps some sort of user education would help? But many people don't seem to

Submit it as a separate post to HN, with a catchy title and try to catch people's attention. That is, if you haven't done that already.

Make an app-store, but for web applications. You can fill it to begin with using affiliate links to existing web apps. Once you get a decent number of people using it, you can allow people with new web apps to advertise there, or charge for

I'd like to know more about what other ad networks were appraised, and why they were no good. I'm going to have to rely on ad networks for my own web app, at least for a while, and it would be pretty helpful if there was was decent customer

I agree about crowdsourcing > algorithms, obviously. Yeah, I'm planning to have a bookmarklet, iframe and browser extension UIs all available. The final UI is in no way set, and probably won't look exactly like the demo. Lots of people
