The key mental shift (for me anyway) is that if a system can be brought to its knees by a single person, then the system is very likely flawed. You need to design a better system when the flaw in the system is the people. What that often

As someone who has been on these calls multiple times, I think "rip someone apart" was an attempt to portray the bluntness with which feedback was provided but (as other commenters have mentioned) not to import any ad hominem atta

I consistently have to switch to Chrome devtools as FF (my default browser) devtools crash or hang on large (1.29MB gzipped) bundles like one of the apps I regularly maintain. While we want to do some code splitting, module lazy loading, a

Something like Github Codespaces[1] but self-hosted would be interesting. I'm sure you can cobble something together now but it would be nice not to have to deal with the infrastructure (i.e. containers, remote hosts, VPCs, whatever).

Where did you find the quick install and what OS were you using? I was trying so hard to find a Jitsi server install for Windows but the only thing I found was a jar+batch file process that I couldn't connect to once I finally got it

When I hit my private URL, I receive "Missing Authentication Token". My URL ends with // so I wonder if I'm not getting my auth token? Total guess as to the URL structure here.

With how popular command palettes have become (in things like text editors), I'm a little surprised this hasn't stuck for browsers. I really enjoyed the various implementations of this kind of thing for browsers but often found t

This actually made me try switching to Firefox again. There's some minor things missing, but for the most part all the features I want are there.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they legally required to disclose this kind of information? Couldn't it could be considered misleading investors otherwise?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the original point here is not whether someone read the code and then contributed, but whether their contribution might (inadvertently or otherwise) contain Matlab intellectual property becaus

Personally I find my enjoyment requires a group of friends that enjoys what I send and I enjoy what they send for the most part. So it can be a chicken and egg problem for sure. I've unfriended friends on Snapchat because I don'

Maybe in that scenario, "time spent waiting", they don't charge? Seems like they wouldn't want to waste those cycles, but I see your point with regards to incentivisation.

The name Siri came from the original company's name which, in turn, came from the founder's desire to name his daughter after a female Norwegian coworker of the same name [1]. Cortana is a female AI character from the Halo series

Electron, iirc, is just the UI layer. Atom actually has a lot of code written to render, edit, and rerender text (they were initially using React at one layer of the process). I can't find it now, but there was a good blog post from
