I’m using an RSS reader that doesn’t show the URL. And there are many more urgent things in the world besides bitcoin. So I’m going to go with “kinda” and “no” respectively.

Third parties are happy to extract value from data you share. Even if you’re not doing anything wrong , controlling that information has an impact. The way I see it, saying “I have something to hide” is, WLOG, the same as saying “I want to

A lot of sites have moved to non-binary gender representations. Some do it because they see heteronormativity as a close-but-not-quite-close-enough false dichotomy that leaves too many people out in the cold. I’m not sure if that’s why Amaz

I wish I knew what Brad Johnston’s idea for correct English pluperfect construction was. The article doesn’t explain it, and reading his comments on other websites doesn’t give me a good “ground-up” explanation, it only points out where oth

Not really that relevant, but it always sort of bugs me when people use the `kill` command with numbers instead of symbol names. I think it’s the programmer in me getting scared of “magic numbers”, but I find it much nicer to be able to wri

One really nice aspect of keybase is that it can be used at a number of different levels that suit one's own flavor of paranoia. You can use it as a key repository, just grabbing people’s keys and using your own PGP/GnuPG apparatu

I noticed that too, and I hoped the author was going to give more info. I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to see inside an HTTPS request. That would defeat the whole point of HTTPS.

The `Date` section says Fri Apr, 18 2014 2:45 PM EDT — Fri Apr, 18 2014 4:00 PM EDT But the `About` section says ... targeted to launch on April 14 at 4:58 pm EDT ... Looks like they copied and pasted the `About` info from the

This is unsettling, to be sure. If there's anything to this, I'd really love to hear a response from the actual FreeBSD folks. But it should be noted that this guy has a relatively rocky history with *BSD, and his nearly context-f

That's part of the idea, yes. But I think the big reason they need money is to source the old computers, probably do a bunch of testing to make sure they work well enough, and distribute them to their audience. EDIT: I'm not sayin

Also, I'd like to offer some words of caution to those who want lots of "external" (i.e. not bash-native) data in their PS1 string. Running outside programs can be expensive. For personal workstation use, things like the abov

It wouldn't work to make the user perform the HMAC, since it requires having the secret, and then the user could share the secret. You need the server to calculate magic = HMAC(secret, username) and then give 'magic' back to
