Correct. It's almost not at all about memory safety.

Because the reasons to replace coreutils with the Rust rewrite are not technological, they are political. And thus aiming to rewrite something very core and stable is the correct approach to enrage the opposite party.

This does not make sense to you because you are looking from a technological standpoint. The reason to rewrite coreutils (or sudo) in Rust is not technological, as there is no merit. Coreutuils are titanium rock stable tools that no one ask

Of course it can't be deleted. They need to force induce AI demand to pump up the dashboards for shareholders. Thus they are converting every possible input line in the world into AI inputs. Do you think they redesigned Windows Run dia

They force AI demand to show it to the shareholders. So they couldn't care less whether that's positive on the receiving end.

It's not a reimplementation either. It's just a separate project which has nothing to do with SQLite. Thus mentioning it as "SQLite re something " is not fair. SQLite compatibility at file level is a nice perk which I am

They may call it all they want. It's been common between some Rust developers to steal valor by highjacking the name of original project for their own fun rewrites. Turso a third party project that has nothing to do with SQLite.

There could be years between looking into it and passing a legislation. There could be years between passing a legislation and actually shooting drones. It's EU, we won't do shit until the comprehensive environmental impact study

It's not a rewrite of SQLite in Rust. It's an entirely new project that happens to have some compatibility with one of the popular SQL databases, namely SQLite.

Unfortunately this is not going to make a dent in the current policies. First of all, russia surveying military bases with drones, really? What else is new? Second, currently there is no way to shoot drones in EU due to variety of bullshit
