If that particular combination of state transitions has happened before, then it lacks novelty. If it hasn’t though...

I actually didn’t get the call myself, so I couldn’t say. I’m sure there are examples of it on YouTube or whatever though.

We got a call recently from my elderly grandmother’s Apple Watch letting us know that she’d fallen. This feature was the main reason we bought the watch for her, and it worked when it mattered. (She’s fine.)

Juries might disagree about what a reasonable person would do in a given situation. But that was just a digression. I think that almost all juries could agree on some subset of behaviors being labeled as “horrible.”

No, it isn’t. The “reasonable person” standard in lots of laws exists exactly because we can agree on it as an objective standard.

"Horrible" is sometimes subjective. There are things that pretty much every reasonable person would agree are horrible.

Ha, that’s pretty good. Back when I was in school a million years ago, nobody thought to make us clear the memory before exams. So people just got away with it, as far as I know.

Demand for AR-15s is high. Demand for Colt AR-15s is not. Colt makes a perfectly ok rifle, but the premium they charge is not justified, and buyers know it.

> accused rapist That’s the standard for being “canceled” now? An accusation? Anybody can accuse people of things. We have courts and the presumption of innocence for a reason.

If you think there's anything clear about the demarcation between patentable vs unpatentable subject matter, you haven't read the caselaw. It's an unintelligible mess.

This is the only intellectually honest case for ending software patents. Methods have been patentable for as long as we've had a patent system--why should they become unpatentable because they're machine-implemented?

That graph suggest that climate change has caused a 2 degree change in the last 50 year. No one believes that—the number is more like 1 degree in the last hundred. And anyway, we’re talking about outlier heat waves, not yearly medians.

I just swapped out the deteriorating battery on a 6s for one that has even more capacity than the stock battery did new. It may go up in flames or something next week, but for now it’s a huge upgrade.
