There's ways to have the windows boot loader do it, but unless something's changed that really means the windows boot loader reboots the computer. EasyBCD[0] can do this, but only on an mbr partition with bios boot, not on gpt

If you're dual-booting, you can go one better and virtualize your Linux distro in the windows environment. It works fairly well, the only problem is making the disk available for both types of uses; virtualbox has the ability to use a

Better yet, you don't even need to open the full ebook editor to access the toc editor, iirc it's available from the right click menu (might not be a default setting).

I think pypy might be a simple way to get around that, iirc it's pretty self-contained and doesn't need to integrate much. I ran it from /opt for a while, but ~/.local should work too.

It won't help with being resource intensive, but there's a good number of electron-based ebook readers around. Alternatively, if you constantly have a browser open, you could use calibre-web and simply open the books in your brows

Don't DND, use airplane mode (if you want antitheft or incoming calls, disable cellular data and wifi--prey and other antitheft can toggle data by text message if necessary). This way you've still got it available for manual use w

I never had an issue with authentication. My issue was a typo in sudoers (I allowed a user to view syslog, iirc, and had a semicolon instead of a colon) that prevented me from using sudo, as only my primary user was allowed to log in via ss
