I have been intermittent fasting for about 23 hours a day in the last decade and this works very well for me, I couldn't imagine to eat more often than that. However, for the first seven months of 2019 I tried to do 48-72 hour fasts th

I have been thinking about moving to Fastmail from Gmail for a long time, as I'm worried that someday an algorithm will suddenly decide that my account should be closed, and as you can't get in contact with a human at Google, this

Sigh, this argument just has to come up in every discussion on Systemd. Anyone who dare to be critical about Systemd is apparently just a Luddite afraid of change. You know what, I have no problems with change at all, only when the change i

Yes, much better. I have tried not eating high caloric/sweet foods to be more healthy, but then the winter months just became pure hell. If I eat the food, I'm able to get things done and be functional.

When this kicks in, I get an urge to eat a large amount of high caloric foods including desserts and to sleep for many many hours. If I comply with this, the situation is manageable. When summer and heat returns, I loses interest in food an

Does anyone have any good resources on how to design systems like these? I find the idea of computers that have to work for decades, be autonomous and self reparing really exciting.

Why ruin it for the majority because a few doesn't known what they are doing? I know the argument is that everyone has the disk space these days, but I still don't like to install the entire X window system, compilers etc. for a s

I would be more than happy if I only could get same speed as with my old Linksys WRT54GL. Currently the AP is forced to 802.11g because performance of 802.11n was much worse.

Can't wait to try if this release will improve wireless performance when configured as an AP, until now I have never been able to get speeds above 10 Mbps with OpenBSD.

By using OpenBSD as an AP I have never been able to get speeds above 10 Mbps even with excellent signal strength. Just by booting Linux on the same AP I can connect with 150 Mbps, but I like the OpenBSD way of doing things so much, that I c

Oh no, not this. Every new release means hours spent on rebasing patches, investigating why the new version won't compile and then create more patches. When Firefox finally builds, I now have to find out what they have removed/cha

That's why one should not make assumptions based on limited personal experience. We have eaten meat for thousands of years and most people will not stop doing that, just bcause it's currently fashionable to say you do not eat meat

It's funny how HN is an echo chamber sometimes. Every time I'm reading a thread like this, it's flooded with post from people who have turned vegans or almost reduced meat to zero, and one could think that this is the norm. L
