Strange, I've never seen this before. I've been running Docker for years on one of my pet project machines, but while Docker is exposing the ports on 0.0.0.0 my iptables firewall blocks all of them. I'm not using --iptables=f

But that part was meant tongue-in-cheek as documented by the next sentence starting with "But seriously".

Can you expand on this, perhaps with a link to documentation about this?

This is exactly what I mean. Nobody expects you to drop anything. They want to see if you're there, and if you're not, they'll look for someone else to help them instead of asking you a question that might not be answered unt

The real question is why Tim waits 4 minutes to reply to the "Hello!", but instantly replies to "Hello! <question>". What a selfrighteous jackass. Seriously though - as someone who's a 20-year resident in tech

If you agree it is a result of the Russian invasion, you can't say it's not a result of Russian airstrikes. Maybe not a direct result in the sense that a Russian rocket destroyed it (although there's no reason to rule that ou

Kasparov has been involved in politics since the 1990s. Even more so since he retired as chess player in 2005. That doesn't automatically make him right, but I don't think it's fair to say he's no more informed than the

It doesn't happen by accident in the same way that preventing an SQL SELECT N+1 problem doesn't happen by accident. Poorly written software is poorly written.

In case of slow internet, SPAs are much easier to make responsive than an SSR application.

If you can do it in a single GET/POST in an SSR, you can do it in a single XHR call in an SPA. There's no reason it has to be split up in separate XHR calls. You just have to want to do it.

In my opinion, UWP/WPF/aodaf makes it easy because it just doesn't implement the things a user is used to in a browser (bookmarkability, back button, ...). If you ignore those things in your SPA, much of the "cruft"

Is that so, though? I've often read (but sadly cannot reproduce links at this point) that ad revenue is a multiple of subscription revenue - meaning a paying subscriber is worth a lot less than a non-paying-but-ad-watching subscriber.

In my experience, almost all of those consent popups work the same way. On the first popup, press the button that doesn't say they can just use all cookies. On the second popup, press the button that says it saves your preferences.

Obviously 'forced' here means 'take the job or lose your unemployment benefits, not 'take the job or be arrested/die/...'. Nothing like slavery.

Inflation is currently high everywhere, not just the US. Can't blame that on the current administration. It might influence it a little, but things like energy pricing (which has gone x4 in just a year or so) has a lot more to do with

If they increase, it's despite of inflation - not with inflation. Simplified example: the value of most stock companies depends on their projected gains in the next few years. A projected gain of $X in 5 years will devaluate over time
