You sound like someone who hasn't used Windows 8 before, or not for longer than half a day anyways. Windows 8 in desktop mode really isn't any different from Windows 7, except for the fact that the Start menu is now fullscreen ins

The Netherlands has a rather liberal drug policy, and because of that, considerably less drug addicts than other European countries. Also, addicts will be addicts. I'd rather they get the money than steal it or kill for it.

You are confusing "minimum income" and "basic income". "Basic income" is something everyone gets, employed or unemployed. Whatever you make in salary comes on top of that. So there is no "why would I work

There aren't many other world governments that yield the same kind of international power on the Internet. You might have a point about governments in general, but I think the situation actually gets better if no single government can

I assume the point is that countries don't want to break with "The Internet", just "The American Internet".

Or, more correctly, you attribute to the author a lack of understanding of how the American system works, because you disagree with him. Meanwhile ignoring that the author, while writing this article for Al Jazeera, was a senior Washington

I think you might be confusing WinRT with the Surface RT tablets. They have relatively little to do with eachother. For example, the "metro-style apps" you mention are WinRT just as well.

Object creation and casting in side your views? Maybe you are just putting too much logic in your view. Use interfaces as your model for partial views and reuse becomes a no brainier.

I like to think of myself as a polyglot programmer and I can't help but disagree with your statement that ASP.NET MVC only looks good because Webforms is so horrible. 1. I am not sure why you have problems testing the wrapper classes.

Replace C++ with assemblee and Java with C/C++ and the statement is still true. Funny how that works...

The lack of outcry concerning this revelation is disturbing. It seems like more attention is being paid to whether or not the telecom firm informed the Belgian government in time, than the fact that a European ally is spying on us.

Why is the textbox transparent? I haven't seen the actual transition in action, but it certainly looks sloppy this way.

JetBrains is one of the most interesting developer-minded companies out there right now and have been for a number of years. Between IntelliJ IDEA (Java and all things JVM, and then some), Resharper (must-have extension for Visual Studio),

We refer to a "bank card" when we mean debit and "credit card" when we mean credit. YMMV :-)

I don't think anything he said means changing the public API. Moving the methods to another class and making them public there does not mean the other class has to be visible to people using the API.
