Sorry, should have been more specific - I don't care if people know what I downloaded - I just wonder how stuff I definitely didn't download is attributed to my IP address. Can't be that my dynamic IP address changed, because

I asked a friend who works on datacenter this so it's secondhand information but - apparently it's cheaper to use mist cooling where you essentially spray cold water on hot parts and it evaporates off instead of the normal closed

Hypervisor yeah but it’s still possible for code in debug mode - there is even an app that automates the process for you https://github.com/osy/Jitterbug (requires a paid dev account)

Can’t you already do that? If you pay 99/year you can sign your own apps with whatever entitlements no? You just can’t submit them to the Apple Store for obvious reasons

I feel vindicated! I'm building a tool with VLMs and I've noticed the answer is always what I expect to see, but wrong if the input is slightly different than expected. Just like the article - if I have picture of a cup, it says c

I built something like this a few years ago. Essentially how it worked is you'd specify the path to a nix flake in the kernel parameters, and once the installer was booted it would pull that flake and run it (which ran the installer, f

I know this isn't what you're asking for - I wasn't either - but I found a used surface pro (arm or x86) is better for this use case than I imagined. They're so cheap used on eBay or FB marketplace that I think it's

I don’t know anything about IMS but I assume they have to stay on the call long enough for the debug headers to be sent (like the tracing the call thing in every spy movie but real) and if that’s the case can this be mitigated by “just”* no

Yeah considering they got rid of the free version and 10x'd (or more) the price in an attempt to squeeze those who were entrenched in the ecosystem, I can't imagine anyone would willingly sign up to be squeezed in the future.

First time I've seen a windows update on the front page of HN. What's particularly interesting or news worthy about this update?

Obviously the reliability problems would go away if you self-host but the "point" is most people rely on external providers because they can't locally run models of similar quality. So what do you do if deepseek cuts you off?

I don't understand people who would use kagi (or any search engine) sparringly. If you're already willing to shell out money for a replacement, why wouldn't you use it all the time?
