The server recognized my device from the messenger/SMS app? That seems not correct. But somehow, the desktop browser and my mobile are tied together for this app. But no other sites have this magic.

When I sign on to a bank it sends an SMS. Then my phone prompts me to share that code with the brower, on my desktop. It's a neat QOL "feature" - but kinda feels too automated to be secure.

Feels like it's looking for some (new?/refactoring?) common interface/protocol for engine and rolling-stock comms. Is that even possible? Anyone known what type of on-rail signaling is possible?

You've lost context and appear to be going after a weak interpretation with the implication I don't know how to sysadmin. The context was the sweeping generalisation that Linux devs and that they don't care about regressions,

When this box does have issue (rare), it's right after I've done some upgrades to packages that the distribution has told me aren't ready. I know I'm standing on the edge (of glory!). Also, I use ext4 since like forever,

And if the assertion was true, I'd be feeling those regressions at least monthly on my leading edge, unstable (~amd64), Gentoo box, that is my daily driver desktop I use at $DayJob. This box has been stable enough to make money. But no

Not OP but yep. Forced SDK upgrade, dependency chain and vendor driven churn. But, eg, Twilio been using the same HTTP methods for like 10 years. Many other SDK based interfaces (not necessarily Stripe) have forced that churn.

And also those two sites you mentioned have higher quality and less clutter. A significant improvement in tool choice to what MDN suggested. Hopefully we can fix this via contribution.

I've one I built called Cras. Store all my neat things I find on the web there. Recently turned it into a PWA so it's a share-target on my phone (Android) which is awesome. It's self-hosted and all packed into SQLite so, IMO

The problem with X isn't X, it's the devs. I've heard that about PHP, JS, shell, .Net, VB6 and damn near every framework ever. But aren't we the devs? We're just in their code saying their baby ugly? There's go

I use SimpleHelp; it's a self-hosted Java server and clients have to install an app; works on Windows and Mac and Linux. It's over port 80+443. Not FOSS.
