This is basically every public company —- Prioritize short term stock price gains over long term growth and sustainability. The only exception are founder run companies and perhaps a few public companies with strong culture/mission (e.

It sounds like you’re biased against academics. Not only did Hinton develop some of the fundamental ideas behind AI (winning the Turing award) but also one of his PhD students is now the CTO at OpenAI.

CBC is pausing its posting on Twitter and in retaliation Musk labels CBC as “69% government-funded media.” Elon seems hell bent on driving major brands and advertisers away from Twitter and undermining Tesla and SpaceX, by association.

Where does the energy come from to mine the materials and to build the large battery and massive truck? How about the energy needed to charge the large battery each and every day?

Clearly EVs without policy changes aren’t going to move us toward a sustainable planet on any timeline that matters.

So true. In my family of four, with two small kids, I certainly don’t feel like I have much agency. :)

I think a fairer analogy is always expecting a Google search to return factual, objective, and high quality information. Similar to Chat GPT, the results are often mixed and depend on the way you structure your search, the content area, etc

A new VR arcade opened up in my area and I visited with my son. They were using HTC Vive headsets, which retail for $1,000+. It’s the first time I really used VR, especially in a couch coop mode setup. The following struck me: (1) There is

Buying a Tesla has a direct impact on Musk’s wealth and ability to lobby and spread his values, which are diametrically opposed to mine. I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

We’re in a similar boat and have never set limits. Our two kids have learned to self moderate. They both like technology but get bored after a period of time and move on to other activities. We also encourage other activities with cub scout

Have you seen the news about Pakistan? A third of the country has turned into an ocean. 1,000+ have died. Millions have lost their homes. This sounds pretty hostile to human life. Don’t you think?
