The ss program also seems to be missing the feature to show you the username or uid or that the process is running as. It is a useful feature of netstat.

I doubt it will ever be a standard. Amazon loves vendor lock in. Plus most of the cloud services love to do their own thing for each service type. The main exception seems to be Kubernetes. Google has it in GCE, and Amazon has said they are

I have a Nexus 6P, and have to disagree on the hardware. I had to replace my battery to not have shutdown problems at about 25%. Also I also regularly see the need for 4gb or 6gb of memory instead of just 3gb.

The closest you will get that I know of is a Lenovo P50/P51. They have builds with Xeons with ECC. But I remember when ECC memory dropped out of favor. I wish it had never happened.

This is just plain a bad idea. Bash is the worst possible language. Yes, it can do it, but the syntax is awful. The problem of single quotes in double quotes in escaped double quotes. I replaced a home grown, written by someone else, bash c

I think there is more to it than too cheap. I think it is not enough money and not enough need. If the budget is $150k and it is SV, you aren't going to hire a team. Another problem is I think Google and like companies have been vacuum

Yes, and no. Not creating a Devops position is just leaving the existing silos. The best way to tear them down is to put the Ops(DevOps) under the Dev manager. It reduces the code throwing, and gets rid of team politics.

That is NoOps, but somewhat depends. You could have a developer who has a dedicated job of managing the infrastructure, but still doing some development work. Also don't forget the build engineer part for automating deploys. But if the

I kind of agree with you that having this distinction would be useful. The real key is it isn't about "dev work". It is a cross between Ops, Dev, and Build. The build is actually more important than the Dev. Even bigger is wh

LDAP with caching using SSSD is a better solution. I just implemented it to replace using a configuration management tool. I use the configuration management tool to setup the LDAP server, and LDAP for authentication. But would take the con

It is becoming rare, because management who ultimately hires and fires people, wants things done faster. They think that making devs responsible for ops stuff, combined with automation and new technology will magically make it all good. I a
