Buy an Arduino and hack on it! It will open a lot of mental doors for you. If you're not down with electrical engineering, just start a web project. I've found the easiest way to learn is to do.

I'm using MD5 for the hash, so I believe that makes it surjective? I could be very wrong though. Salting by the post ID is a very good idea. I might implement that tonight!

The threads are ordered by if they are sticky and then the most recent item. I've looked into ("chan"?) text boards, but they're all in PHP and usually in some huge file with no separation of concerns.

They're anonymous in the context of the conversation. Anytime you visit a website, you know your IP is being logged.
