I don't think the genie can be put back into the bottle. If Congress passes laws to require it on US-bound devices, I could see interested parties importing from Asia and Europe and/or embargoes on our devices abroad. It could hur

A Chromebook Pixel is. It's doable if you are ok with command-line and building/deploying to a device using gradle. Admittedly there are few on the market.

I'm very surprised this didn't exist already as most places I've worked have had a number of French nationals. How strict is the French national or degree granted from French uni rule? I know a few who are in tech and bilingu

The multi-lang JVM was a thing for as long as the CLR was. Rhino and JRuby are older or almost as old as C# itself.

Guillaume Laforge and Jochen Theodorou actually comment a bit. There are probably others whose github and HN user names I can't guess as easily.

I've had a bit different luck. A few have paid for flights and hotel, some included a honorarium of some sort but most were paid on my own dime outside the free pass. Two of my recent good friends are fellow speakers I met at conferenc

I created one of widgets that launched with Wave to use VOIP services to make a conference call from inside the gadget. Part of me wished it stayed because I had a single letter user id. Anyways, meeting minutes were something that it did w

My frequent path is Orgmode (which is just text and very md-like) which can export to Markdown proper and a bunch of other formats including PDF. It can autogenerate leverage pandoc and also make a TOC for you.

Org is really good about letting you unobtrusively embed LaTex into a document and can export to a bunch of formats. I was doing an algorithms course with lots of mathematical formulas last year. Org was a godsend for completing the homewor

Long answer yes with a but. They will eventually take up the mantle from devs who age out or die. We might have something totally different than Git at that point but it's not good to dismiss them either. That is how projects die.

A lot of these parents are enablers. They made it ok for their overachiever kids to have no job as opposed to a job not in their field of study. I graduated during the recession of 2003-2004 which was almost as long as the Great Recession.

In a word. Yes. I've been asked a lot to like some video or share a LinkedIn post. If it doesn't fit into the confines of something I would reasonably share, I don't share it. I've never gotten blowback for it.

I totally agree. I started using Org mode when I was taking an algorithms course that required a bunch of LaTeX diagrams. The ability to embed code to generate a diagram is clutch.

There is a bit of buzz about Spring Boot in the Groovy space. It's possible to wire up a micro webframework example with only a couple lines of code in Groovy. Remember that Groovy, Grails, and Spring Boot are run by the same company,
