I'm glad Posner and a few other justices seem to have an interest in discrediting frivolous patent cases but can they do anything other than point a dirty finger at corporations for abusing the patent system and dismiss their cases with pre

Extending your vocabulary is nothing like learning a new language. A text based interface is improved by choosing words and symbols that better represent a command with relative brevity and simplicity. The concensus seems to be that commonl

The samples in the article don't do a very good job of demoing the technology. You can download an mp3 of the talk: http://msrvideo.vo.msecnd.net/rmcvideos/160725/dl/160725.mp3 forward to 19:25 for a demo of english and mandarin the full

The article is full of useful observations. The one issue I have is that presenting us with the worst possible management scenario for a new developer and using that to build a separate argument about the misuse of resources before that dev

the article focuses on tonality so I didn't even think to mention rhythm but you're right, rhythm does have a frequency equivalent which is not always on a different abstraction scale. 32nd notes in music played at 120bpm have an audible fr

This article would probably never be used by anyone as reference for signal analysis but it does offer a good overview of western harmonic tonality. I do want to make one correction: "Did I say music was based on notes? That's not true. Rea
