That sounds like a bug in the driver. I'm pretty sure varchar on postgres is just an alias for text, which has no limit. edit: varchar(n) will issue an error past n bytes, varchar without n is the same as text. character varying(n) is

I don't want TLS < 1.2. It seems like the setting can be changed though. https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1101896 It seems setting security.tls.version.min to 3 should only allow connecting with TL

I think you're conflating implementation details of your JSON decoder with the JSON spec. There is no requirement that JSON numbers are parsed into IEEE floats or doubles. Many JSON parsers support decoding numbers into other decimal d

I can't tell if you're naive or simply trolling. "There is one rule for the industrialist and that is: make the best quality goods possible at the lowest cost possible, paying the highest wages possible." -Henry Ford

The last time I had a job like this I left it. There was a sr. who consistently turned out sloppy work, scoffed at tests, and constantly caused production fires. His boss loved him because he was always working hard after hours to correct h

I've often wondered why society doesn't force cigarette manufacturers to make biodegradeable cigarette butts. I've never seen a smoker throw their butts anywhere but the ground.

It's true. It took me ages to understand indirection, and I didn't fully understand its purpose until I was presented with a programming environment that didn't have it. (Programming a PDP-8 with machine language.) I created

Some may find this trite, but for me, the best part of the article is how one of the twins, James, gets absolutely thrown under the bus for being a stoner. Utterly savage.

You might want to update your thinking on dementia. http://content.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1930278,0... My grandmother died, as far as we can tell, directly from dementia.

I've seen a lot of developers, especially developers with C backgrounds, reach for Makefiles when approaching Go development, and I think it's a harmful practice. So, I'd like to offer a respectful but firm rebuttal to this a

You've already been dunked on by plenty of other people, but I don't think they did a good job of explaining why you are wrong. The USA has a labour shortage problem. There aren't enough people that want to spend their lives
