If you had to have such a feature, it should never have been on by default, and the servers to be contacted should've been in a whitelist somewhere at a minimum.

It would be nice to see public grants like those in the EU for software here in the US. If you want to replicate SV, get rid of non-competes first, then try doing something like this along with tax breaks.

Apple mentions PAC, PPL, and BlastDoor, and I'm left wondering if SELinux+JIT sanboxing on Android isn't better than all three combined. Though, I can't wait to see ARMv9/Intel CET processors and associated software bein

I think everyone knows about paying higher taxes after gov spending, but maybe the rich can pay their fair share like the 70s.

Some PC motherboards and laptops also have dual BIOSes/BIOS recovery[1] to prevent bricking. You can build a redundant system capable of surviving failures. Apple just doesn't want to spend the cost/volume of a couple 32Mbit

Polling tries to figure out how everyone is going to vote, and if you look at the trends, it still mostly works. NP-hard problems can be estimated. I'm not saying that systems like RCV aren't better when compared to others, but th

Things like OIN[0] didn't exist when MS and Google bought companies to strip them of their patents. They do exist now, and it's basically a truce over fighting on patents. The Bork view on anti-trust definitely has favored these c

I wonder where the even-odd approach for the SPE comes from. Avoiding data hazards and extracting performance seems great as long as the software is up to the task.

It's a bit disappointing that ARM v8.3-v8.5 has some security features that aren't available in even this custom SoC (PAC/BTI/MT), and they would still help with a JIT. The size increase on the 6 from the 5 is also :(. I
