idk, I studied higher level math very seriously, and even there, practicing computations is pretty key to understanding the underlying concepts. Concepts and abstractions are important, but they don't stick without practice.

Your links say we can believe these allegations with 90-98% confidence. Actually, multiply that by 6 women, and that's 99.9999% confidence, assuming the low end of that. My request services only have to have a 99.9% success rate.

Is that really how it works? Stories about Uber typically get high comment rates, and I usually see them near the top.

Kara Swisher's podcast had an excellent episode on Uber that did a great job surveying this firestorm, and defending Travis' business direction, without exonerating his leadership's many flaws. Definitely worth a listen.

I don't agree it's quite that uplifiting. The culture had to be absolutely horrible, all the way up to the top, for Fowler's story to have an impact. Uber was already gearing up their lawyers against her, and if their cultu

It's not just public perception - it's internal perception too. Attrition at Uber is through the roof. Yeah, Travis is one of the best people for the job and his aggressiveness built Uber, but you can't build and maintain U

Dictatorships have that history - to place the blame on communism while ignoring oppressive regimes like Pinochet and Trujillo is disingenuous. Not to mention the article says nothing about communism. Plenty of countries have pro-labor, s

My understanding is that's standard procedure for Apple. If you violate the TOS, they'll block app updates, but it would have to be egregious for them to remove the app. At a company I worked at previously, we got hit with a cop

Not to mention that technology has always been a bigger displacer of jobs than immigration. H1B allows 65K immigrants per year. Much more than that is displaced by self-driving cars, warehouse automation, etc.

It's true though. We talk about the loss of industrial jobs and NAFTA as a white working class phenomenon, despite the fact that people of all races are affected. We pathologized drug use for decades, until the recent opioid crisis h
