The one that bugs me sometimes is shake to send feedback, because the feedback form isn’t useful whenever I trigger it by accident. The funniest implementation is Microsoft Teams, where if you shake it pops up a feedback form that then says

This is super cool, but I'm bummed that it's called "Xls"kubectl and it's for Google Sheets. Something similar should be possible in modern Excel, there's good support for HTTP.

It is low, lower than minimum wage in many places. It really depends who OP is working for and if they’re expected to do it alongside school. This may be more of a stipend or something rather than a wage, and as such they aren’t expected to

You can disable reaction notifications globally in Settings -> Notifications -> Chat. Doesn't help if you only want them for some channels though.

My comment was really kind of inaccurate, the difference isn't the memory ballooning, it's the special way WSL2 is able to interact with the host. It frees memory much better than normal Hyper-V VMs, and boots way faster than a re

To this day I wish they'd release decent (i.e. well documented) APIs for creating VMs like this yourself with Hyper-V. I sometimes have to spin a bunch of Windows VMs for testing, and if they could dynamically release RAM and CPU when

HN’s mandate is anything people find intellectually stimulating, not just tech. This is a video that explains a meme, and that kind of stuff shows up on HN every once in a while. IMO Subreddits would hurt it, as there’s really not that man

There’s a possibility this is due to corporate antivirus. Many AV solutions (seemingly not Windows Defender) scan every file that’s written, massively slowing down IO, but they can’t scan VHDs. Excluding the folder where node_modules is or

Were there devices that supported 14 and not 15? That’s probably why they dropped support, you can just upgrade to 15 and get the security update.

iOS 12 was the last release for the 6, which was the last phone cut off from updates (and they sold it for an especially long time). The 6s and 7 can update to iOS 15, which is still getting security updates.

Muscle memory, and on smaller phones it was never a problem. I can reach the address bar on a 13 mini one handed, and it’s been so long that it’s more annoying to relearn it. It’s best to make it an option.

I’d usually say drivers, since Google guarantees that Chrome OS runs right on hardware they certify, but this is a desktop. Linux runs fine on desktops, it’s laptops where it has trouble.

I have to imagine that Fargate on Windows doesn't use Firecracker though, right? Firecracker needs kernel level changes to work properly, and the open source version doesn't let you run anything but Linux.

This is still a thing, Fargate pull times are super slow: https://github.com/aws/containers-roadmap/issues/696 . We run all of our workloads on fargate, and it's really annoying when you're trying to

We use Azure DevOps at work for our CI/CD, and although they provide an ephemeral runner setup (where you can run the agent with a --once flag, and it will exit after a single job runs so you know to destroy the container/VM), job

I’m kind of curious if AWS is ever going to launch a firecracker as a service thing independent from lambda. It would be wonderful for CI or other tasks where you want to rapidly spin up a box and you don’t know how long it needs to be up.

If you look through old byte magazines from the 70s and 80s there’s a lot of cool ads like this. When 15 vendors were selling upgrade boards for your computer, they had to differentiate somehow.

It's easier than writing a driver for FreeBSD yourself, I suppose, although I'd probably just get a USB Wi-Fi dongle instead of worry about walking into a meeting and my Wi-Fi driver VM crashing :) (or, just run Linux and run Free
