This looks amazing, congrats!! One quick note: on your features page, the trim section has the same text as resize gifs. You pasted the wrong copy there ;). Again, congrats on your great work! [EDIT] found one more: when I use your demo, th

It’s great for their brand. Apple has always used musicians to brand itself as a creative brand. Musicians are way more visible as creatives than photographers. Becoming a rock star is a thing, becoming a rock star photographer is... uhm...

We are decommissioning them. The plan was quite badly executed. Basically, in order to set a deadline, politicians decided to compensate power plant owners for their losses. Problem is: suddenly, all power plant owners came up with very opt

I don’t think it is a good book. From a didactic point of view, I actually found it one of the worst resources out there. The math intro at the beginning is too superficial - either you know it and skip the chapter, or you need another reso

I know it doesn’t sound at first like what you’re looking for, but I strongly recommend the Fast.ai course. Despite advertising itself as for coders and not math heavy, I found it to be much better at explaining the math than, for example g

Matplotlib is incredibly powerful for non-interactive visualisations, and I have yet to find another library that offers the same flexibility. Interactive visualisations are often impractical. They don’t work in publications, presentations

Used my 2010 MBP through uni life, startup life and acquisition. After which I allowed it to retire. But it served me a solid seven years. I'm actually one of these few people who's also happy with the new MBP.

I was expecting this new course to also include a Swift section with Chris Lattner, but couldn't find it. Does anyone know by chance when that will be released (roughly)?

I co-founded Sonalytic and served as CTO until we got acquired. We developed AI for music information retrieval. Clearly an area where every developer needs the newest hardware. Or do they? The entire time I worked from a 2010 Macbook Pro.

I am German and co-founded a start-up in berlin. After it failed, one of my co-founders and me tried again - this time in London. Boy, what a difference. Seed funding, tech talent, tax situation, and lawyers to help you start your company -

It‘s just an observation. The apprenticeship system stems from the old guilds. There is no support yet for learning programming that way. It will take a while, the system evolves very slowly.

German here. We have this kind of system, and it works extremely well for most professions that don’t require a master’s degree, and where the field doesn’t change too quickly. It is a mix of school and apprenticeship. Great, for example, f

I'm glad you are sharing this. I've made the same experience - in our code, we ditched Pandas entirely for structured arrays. We also used numpy record arrays at first but found them to somehow be significantly slower than structu

Woha! That's some serious design there. I am heavily, heavily impressed by what the KDE folks are building. I will admit that I don't think I'll switch to KDE anytime soon - I had been using it throughout the 3.x series, and

I know they're working on styling, but now that the titlebar is black, too (on Mac), I really, really would appreciate if the status bar would blend in, too.

I just got started on Python's asyncio. It took me a long time to understand how to get things done, but after about a week of doing small example projects in the evenings, it finally 'clicked'. For the record, I never worked

I'm afraid I fail to see how Liquid Fire competes with D3 in any way. It looks like a library for UI state transitions, but not for animating graphs, or all the crazy things one can do with D3 (some of these examples are even given in

I believe modern C/C++ has the restrict keyword which tells the compiler that pointers don't overlap. I'm not sure if this applies to arrays, but if so, it should be fairly trivial for a compiler to optimise parallel executio

I wonder how it performs compared to a VP tree. Yes, the VP tree has all the problems of the KD tree, i.e. it becomes unbalanced when inserting, but most fast implementations use linear search in leaf nodes instead of creating a full tree,
