Wow, this seems like a cool product. I can't imagine building a product that relies so heavily on the UI of another service. How are updates handled?

Do you really want these guys to have direct access to your bank account given their track record for data breaches? On top of this you get no credit card protection, no rewards points on your card, and no double warranty which most cards g

I'm not an expert, but maybe you should stop being an asshole to people. Then maybe you wouldn't have to worry about strangers plotting revenge.

This looks like a great tool. I was going to use CloudFormation to setup a new VPC in AWS, but I will give this a shot instead.

What particular issues have you had with IAM? I find that the wizard is a good starting point for understanding the policies.

MFA for all console accounts is the only right answer. If machines require credentials to do specific task or perform API calls then roles should be used.

Congrats on putting something together, hope you had fun doing it. What are your next steps for this project? Mine would be to polish the frontend design. I'm not sure of your comfort level with frontend design, but as a programmer wit

I've used the https://mixitup.kunkalabs.com/ library for similar functionality in the past. I am not sure how well it works with hundreds of thousands of items, but it does work well for the 600ish items that I am usin

I'm glad this included the "Signs you should not be using a bash script" section. Bash is a very good solution for many cases, but it becomes downright unruly when dealing with a lot of string manipulation and more complex ob

Not to sound like a commercial for Cloudflare or anything. But putting your infrastructure behind their services can protect users while they perform their patching. According to their latest blog post http://blog.cloudflare.com&

That is my concern as well. We are still running CentOS 6.4 which does not have the affected version of OpenSSL, but we terminate SSL at the ELB so if they are affected then are keys are not safe. Edit: I've posted on the support forum

When using a service like the AWS load balancer all you get back is an A record. You don't have a direct IP address to point to so you have to use a Cname

It is my understanding that the AWS solution only works when using Route53 with other AWS services like ELB and S3. We had a problem similar in the past and the solution was not pretty. I think they have solved the problem in a fashion that

I may be wrong but my understanding of this is that you will probably need at least a tiny server if you plan to securely create tokens for clients to communicate with AWS and other services without revealing your main set of credentials.

I think smarter usage of IAM roles would have also helped here. Keys created strictly for S3 access should not have the ability to launch new instances and so on. Limiting keys to their specific purpose is a good security practice even for

All AWS keys I've seen start with 'AKIA'. I am assuming that they have bots that search Github and other search engines for access keys. At that point it is easy for them to tie them back to an account and notify the user.

I don't think /r/programming was the correct choice for this campaign. I would think that the web development subs and even the sysadmin subs would be a better place for this stuff.
