Slight exaggeration: "Against the power of Mordor there can be no victory. We must join with him, Gandalf. We must join with Sauron. It would be wise, my friend."

Agree completely that it's absolute wild to run such a system without backups. But at this point no government should keep critical data on foreign cloud storage.

I read the piece (and enjoyed it) despite the first sentence. I’ve become increasingly sensitive to this kind of fluff. It’s not a hook, it’s bad read-bait.

If it is for checking a box, sure. If it is part of a process that aspires to deliver projects with quality and with somewhat predictable release dates, that seems way too late, imho.

I’m firmly in this boat too. If it’s a small change I can likely get it reviewed within minutes, if it isn’t small it should have a review regardless.

€58 a month for all local/regional public transport is very cheap. Where I am, in another part of western Europe, a single-region ticket is normally ~30-50% more expensive than the all-of-Germany ticket.

The question to ask is, why are there less cars? Public transport. As an example, just the tram network had 57 million trips in 2019. The metro, 90+ million trips annually. The commuter rail network? 70+ million. (Source: wikipedia) So yes.
