They will keep expanding their powers until they are stopped. We need to find the best way to stop them. Economic boycott? Not sure protest works, other than giving them excuses for violence.

What? A 5 minute drive is miles, and that's plenty far enough. They are currently being built within 100 meters of homes. It's absolutely insane. EDIT: https://youtu.be/t-8TDOFqkQA?si=Qa9ot70MylFp6qkE Just watc

The idea that data centers have to be built near homes (or anywhere people live or work) is absurd. The US is huge and vast amounts of open spaces.

Everything is a projection with these people. Including the pedophilia.

"civilians trained as soldiers but not part of the regular army" I don't know if you're from the US, but here, militia applies solely to civilian groups and not government ones.

by e40 9mo ago
Militia? No, the government! ICE is an official government agency.

Is it known how much he made?

That’s the impression I got: he doesn’t feel fear like the rest of us.

After every crisis or crash, the financial engineers always seem to find a new way to put us all at risk.
280.
by e40 9mo ago
Certainly, but that's what, like .0001% of PDFs people encounter?

by e40 9mo ago
A crash is the result of collective behavior (greed). Individual behavior is driven by incentives.

Congress? The majority of them are now beholden to the oligarchs and will do their bidding. We are truly fucked.

My mother is in this situation. All of the assisted living facilities in mher area are either owned by Private Equity or are way too expensive. She has no choice other than to age in place. It’s terrifying for both of us.

Sounds like it’s a force multiplier, both on the good and bad side. That lines up with what I have seen. It’s hard to tell if it’s a net positive or negative.

Wall Street are made up of people with incentives. The incentives drive the behavior and not some collective will. Wall Street will be the last to find out the emperor has no clothes. That is called a stock crash.

How did you get around the legal issues?

Why not upload to Google docs and view there? Way less work.

If your user isn't an admin, then /Applications is a good location so that apps can't change things in the background (it would require a popup to elevate privs). Otherwise, some apps don't install as much crap when you

For macOS: You: ~/Applications Everyone: /Applications It’s that simple.

I definitely felt like I was watching something unusual and special. Watching it go from "I have this idea" to "I'm hosting the kernel on it" was insanely cool.

Double down, it is. When someone brings a problem to you, it’s quite presumptuous to think they want you to solve it.

And the data centers created from this initiative will be net positive for the environment and communities, right? Right?

This has been in the making for 40+ years. It has baffled me the entire time. I don’t understand what air, water and soil the children of the proponents will use.

YT served up the Zodiac video to me a few days ago, too. Interesting stuff!

I was monitoring the linux kernel mailing list when this happened. Wild times. It seemed then that something special was happening.

Still using my Speed Queen washer and dryer. Bought 30 years ago. You’ve given me confidence to try to fix it when it stops working. Thanks!
