I don’t think it’s correct to extrapolate from “copycat rule is applied unfairly” to “don’t make apps at all”. I think there _is_ an interesting tension though. Original developers should receive protection against copycat apps. Users who h

I think you’re forgetting about apple’s frameworks, and the fact that _they_ want to use Swift. Their code runs inside your address space, and I think you’ll need a more complicated scheme to solve those problems.

It seems so obvious to me that your typical engineer, who spent hours / days / whatever working on a feature, is never going to test the edge cases that they didn’t conceive of during implementation. And if they didn’t think of it

Did you find that calling it “OSX” in the prompt worked better than macOS? Or was that just an early choice that you didn’t spend much time on? I was skimming through the video you posted, and was curious. https://www.youtube.com

I don’t know if the author would draw the same parallel, but it reminds me of safe/sanitized Strings vs un-sanitized Strings. To the type system, they look the same. There are ways to structure your code so that your program (almost al

I see ratgdo mentioned a lot in home-assistant-related places. I’m not sure about the other. I don’t have mqtt setup on my home assistant (yet?), which the primary ratgdo firmware relies on, but there’s also an esphome-based firmware that s

I hope something changes with the way apple manages bugs. It’s incredibly demoralizing to spend my time reproducing a bug, writing up the bug report I’d want to receive (including a minimal test case), and hearing nothing for years until it
