My understanding was that with optimizations off, clang/gcc were pretty "boring". Is a whole new compiler really required? Personally, to fix these problems I'd lean toward finding a new language instead of a new compile

The most frustrating thing for me about CoreData, is this type of thing isn't included in the core documentation (at least not clearly). I'm heartened to see that we were pretty close to the "right" way on the app we bui

I also used JobDSL, and thought it worked pretty well. I don't think my teammates agreed, they seemed to just want to change things in the UI and this was just something getting in the way of their work. Some were willing to learn it,

I think it's interesting watching Uber become politically savvy. When the company started, it simply ignored regulations that weren't convenient. Now they seem to lean on lobbying, as well as campaigns to drive the public to conta

I've long thought that UIKit (and supporting frameworks) need a simplified API. I also believe that the best "bang-for-buck" for developers is learning the platform APIs, not third party wrappers, since that's the most t

Does turning off the "Automatically balance brackets in Objective-C" preference not work? I like the feature, so I've never tried turning it off, but it sounds like it'd solve your problem. You can also change the assist

I have an unlimited plan with T-Mobile. They're available for $80/mo. I think I just saw some fine print that said your traffic can be deprioritized after 20+ GB in a month. I was really worried the new Binge-On plan would downgra

I looked into a business plan, but wasn't willing to sign a 2 year contract. It's been longer than 2 years and I still have Comcast, but I would drop them so fast if there was any other option that provided reasonable service.

I would simply point to Apple's new language, Swift, dropping that feature as proof that they don't think it's the best way to design a language. Our team is split (I don't know how evenly) on whether Obj-C or Swift'

It's not necessarily race. How about a bad rating for getting a ride to an undesirable part of town? Or one where the driver can't find another rider? At least in 2014, it sounds like Uber has no way to verify racism isn't ha

I wonder when Uber/Lyft will encounter the same problem. I worry that residents of poor neighborhoods will receive a low rating from some of the drivers, based on the same reasons why taxi drivers don't want to provide them rides.
