Yes, and the author is reflecting on their experience until now, which is mostly in the period when the baby’s brain is just forming (I have a 10 month old, and a 2.5 year old with sensory challenges)

Babies younger than 9-12 months cannot regulate even their own body temperature . They absolutely cannot regulate their emotional state - being calm, present, and centered is exactly what top parenting looks like for that age.

Can confirm we use tsx with playwright with no issues. Thanks!

With tsx instead of ts-node, it works just fine - node --import=tsx --test __tests__/\*/\*.test.ts

Both Node.js and Bun are also single executables. Node.js doesn't (yet) transpile TS for you, and that's a single dependency away.

That’s my interpretation as well. There is one central brain, and “the edge” is like the nervous system that collects signals, sends it to the brain, and is _eventually consistent_ with instructions/config generated by the brain.

As an Australian, the only metric that matters for me is >80% of all semi-competent developers, designers, and founders I knew (including myself) left AU because they hit a career ceiling normalized by that culture. Zero local innovation

How interesting. I assumed that a consistent codename such as Ada/Davinci refers to the lineage/DNA of the OpenAI model from which a distinct product was created. But I can see how these codenames could be "just" a revis

OpenAI doesn't say directly what text-embedding-ada-002 is, but in the release blog post they show that performance is comparable to davinci/curie, which places it firmly in the universe of GPT3. I understand it's not a strai

LLMs and embedding models are certainly different, but it's a useful benchmark to calibrate expectations. OpenAI released text-embedding-ada-002 a year ago, and they describe the ada model as[1] "the original GPT-3 base model [...

In that analogy, a far more common situation is the developer saying “I don’t know”, “depends on what kind of baby you want”, and “5 years and you’ll have a 1st grader”.

HN is faithful to its “I could build it in a weekend” estimates, but even on that scale “a non-technical person could replicate Salesforce with RoR in 20 minutes” is extra brave.

Some auditor recommendations from personal experience - The top tier is Coalfire and Schellman, but you are looking at $100k in auditor fees. More affordable is BARR and A-LIGN. If you are happy to have multiple vendors, KPP for SOC2 and BS

And you're right to be skeptical. With performance, so much depends on your actual code and program-specific bottlenecks. The difference in runtime speed between JSC and V8 is minimal, so a lot of Bun optimization must be in the gaps b

The "semi-complex" code is legacy code, aka revenue code. Started with plain JS in CJS on Node 12 and evolved to strict TS/ESM on Node 20. A lot of cruft built up from that multi-year evolution. These days, if you're aut

1. Missing `node:http2` 2. Missing `node:test`, so it's more difficult to execute the same test files within Bun as we do via Node. I wrote a custom Bun loader to mock parts of `node:test`. 3. Vite and ESLint do not work. 4.

We're a full-stack TypeScript shop, and I manage ~50 internal libs and ~500K LOC of TS. Last month I tested out both Deno and Bun as alternative runtimes for us. TLDR: for any semi-complex codebase we have, Bun almost always works, Den
